Project Overview

Once a suitable building had been located – 40,000sq ft of workspace over two floors at 20 Gracechurch Street – we worked closely with the RFIB team to explore and identify appropriate technology and potential future technology developments within the insurance market. It was vital that the technologies were specified swiftly, so that the building ICT infrastructure could quickly be integrated once the building had been signed off and handed over as a CAT A fit-out.

We developed suitable budgets and introduced high quality technologies to provide a new desktop environment, a new print strategy with follow-me printing, mobile services and Voice over IP. We also sourced control systems and monitoring covering room booking systems, corporate presence, and converged voice and video services. We carried out the complete infrastructure design and coordination including main equipment room fit-out, structured cabling, intelligent infrastructure management, WiFi wireless services and incoming circuits.

The Client

RFIB is an independent international insurance and reinsurance broker and is majority owned by management and staff. From our headquarters in the heart of the City of London’s insurance sector and seven offices in major international centres, RFIB provides excellent service across its specialist lines of business. We provide focused, effective and bespoke solutions for our clients. We access a diversified book of business in significant developing economies and are renowned as a producer of innovative, profitable and specialist business to the London and international markets.

The Challenge

Leading international insurance and reinsurance broker RFIB Group needed to identify, secure and fit-out a new headquarters premises which would reflect its world-class status and comfortably host its growing headcount.

We were engaged to help identify the most suitable building from a technology perspective, and then to work with RFIB to explore technologies that would benefit the business both at the point of relocation and further into the future.

RFIB Group was under extreme pressure to find the right solution for the company’s needs. In fact, the project had an enormously tight timescale of around six months, during which time we would have to find the right building and then carry out full technology analysis, specification and office fit-out. With a moving-in date set for September 2009, we were ready to begin fit-out in June.

The Results

In September 2009, RFIB migrated its staff to the new building. They were met by state of the art technology and communications and a suite of new meeting facilities boasting video conference, touch-screen plasma, integrated control and room booking system and the latest high-speed blanket-coverage WiFi wireless system.
