The Team

Pringle Richards Sharratt, Cogent BC, Jackson Cole, WPP Group, BW, TCG, Softcat

The Challenge

The IET champions best practice in Engineering and Technology globally with Michael Faraday House having been its HQ since 1989.

This project came at a landmark time in the Institute’s history as it celebrated its 150th anniversary.

The vision for the refurbishment was to bring the building up to modern office standards and provide a significantly improved working environment for over 500 staff.

The concept designs placed sustainability at the heart of the refurbishment and include an enclosed courtyard to increase space and a flexible layout to support agile ways of working. The new layout created different zones on each floor to encourage innovation, creativity and collaboration.

The Solution

Cordless helped to design and project manage building technologies to support the institute’s role in communicating with its global community and in setting worldwide standards and best practice.

The key project objective was to find the best technologies to support the changing use of the building post-Covid, focusing on staff welfare and sustainability with a reduction in carbon footprint.

The Results

The IT and AV technologies designed and project managed by Cordless have helped create a welcoming hub delivering a collaborative user experience.

The input from Cordless in both the Active and Passive IT design, including a Smart workplace solution drives performance and innovation within an intuitive, agile space.
